April Cothran, a native of South Carolina. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theater Speech and Dance and a minor in Early Childhood education.
April started her passion of dance at the age of 5. She has studied ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, clogging and gymnastics. At the age of fourteen she was accepted in the Columbia City Ballet and studied under William Starrett and Susan Anderson. During college she danced with the Carolina Coquette’s.
April has preformed in the Nutcracker, Dracula, and The little Mermaid with the Columbia City Ballet. In 1994 she was a contestant with Miss Teen America. She received the talent award to a lyrical routine. While in college she performed every Saturday with the dance team. Plays that she was cast in during college were Our House, And The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. She also assisted in costume design with theater department where she learned her love for sewing.
After college April worked as a manager for a clothing store in Greenville South Carolina. She got to meet top designers in NY, Dallas, and California. Then after becoming a Mom in 2005, she became a Nanny for 9 years to many families in the Greenville area. Also she started a program at her Church called Joyful Noise where she got to express her love for children , her faith, and the stage. She also was the director for Vacation Bible School 2012-2014.
In 2015 she returned to her love of dance after moving to Charleston and taught dance at 12 different childcare centers.
Teaching Children to express themselves through the art of movement and dance is what gives her purpose and joy!
