Happy Autumn!

Autumn is here! Can you believe it?! I don’t know about you, but autumn is my favorite season! I’m so excited that all of our classes for Studio Go have officially started! With the beginning of our classes, it’s important for all of our students to know how to behave appropriately in class, to their teachers, and their fellow students. That’s why this month’s class theme is…Manners and Etiquette!

At the beginning of each of my classes, we all go over our class rules and respectful behaviors. Some of the points we go over include how and where to sit in class, using our listening ears, turning off our talking mouths, and treating one another with respect.

To give you a little sneak peak, here’s what a typical start of class sounds like:
Ms. Lindsey: “When the music is playing, you should be…?”
Students: “Dancing!”
Ms. Lindsey: “When your friends are dancing, you should be…?”
Students: “Watching!”
Ms. Lindsey: “When your friends are finished dancing and have curtsied, what should you do?”
Students: “Clap for them!”

All of these, and more, are teaching your ballerinas how to behave in a ballet class, and how treat their fellow dancers with respect. So feel free to quiz your dancer on some ballet etiquette at home!

Your students have also received a fun coloring sheet to help them practice their class etiquette after they leave!

Enjoy the autumn breeze!
Ms. Lindsey
